I will never forget
Psalm 103:2: Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Humans are forgetful...
We forget what God has said. We forget what God has done. We forget what He called us to do. We forget who He called us to be.
The word "forget" can mean two things: not remembering (sometimes accidentally) or ignoring (sometimes intentionally). To "forget" means not to keep something in our minds.
When we face difficulties, we may ask for miracles or assurance, but once we get what we want, we can still forget what God has already done for us. We are not alone in this—the Bible is full of stories of people who forgot God. But this doesn't have to be us. This doesn't have to be you.
We are part of a story that has continued since the beginning of time. Without our help, God created this beautiful world and chose a unique time and place for us to be born. Even as the world seems increasingly senseless and frightening, God is always at work in this chaos.
In our shared history, we must remember God's faithfulness. In our individual lives, we must remember God's goodness.
Today, right now, we can fight against forgetfulness by remembering that it was God who created this world and filled it with goodness, including us! It was God who offered us mercy when we didn't deserve it. It was God who gave us true purpose: to love Him and others; to know Him and share about Him.
When we take a moment to remember God's gifts, provision, and faithfulness, a powerful response arises: PRAISE.
"Let all that is within me bless the LORD!"
Both God the Father and Jesus explain how to love Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength (Deuteronomy 6:5; Matthew 22:37; Luke 10:27). Your thoughts and feelings, your passions and desires, your talents and character, both physically and spiritually—if these are a part of you, they are meant to glorify God!
How has God revealed Himself in your life that you will always remember Him? Thank Him for what He has done and praise Him for who He is.
