Ephesians 5:15-17
In today's passage, the Apostle Paul teaches how to cultivate a righteous lifestyle. He gives three instructions on making divine choices. He says that...
1. “Pay attention to your way of life” (Ephesians 5:15). If we don't consciously choose to protect ourselves, we will simply do what comes naturally, without thinking about our actions, no matter what life dictates to us.
2. “Make the most of every opportunity” (verse 16). God has given each of us time and opportunities to participate in His plans. However, we tend to spend our time and energy on other things without considering what our Heavenly Father has in mind for us.
3. “Understand what the will of the Lord is” (verse 17). In the broadest sense, God's will for us is that each of us become the person He created us to be and do the work He specifically planned for us (Ephesians 2:10). Knowing this, we should pass our choices through a spiritual "filter" and ask ourselves if they align with our Father's purposes.
The Lord wants us to behave wisely so that we can enjoy all the wonderful blessings He has promised in His Word and desires to give us. Instead of just living for ourselves, let us dedicate ourselves to Him, committed to making every day count for Jesus Christ.
