- Ephesians 3:14-21 - For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
- 2 Timothy 1:7 - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Does the task in front of you sometimes scare you? Have you ever felt that you are not suitable for the work God has called you to do? Sometimes we all think this way because some responsibilities seem too big for a person. We try to convince ourselves that this work is too difficult or that God expects too much from us. When this happens, we may distance ourselves from the great opportunities God gives us. For example, sometimes the Lord creates a perfect opportunity for someone to share the Gospel. But how often do we retreat and miss such moments because we are afraid that we won't know what to say? The feeling of inadequacy often stems from fear. No matter how unsuitable we think we are, fear should not stop us. The truth is that even if we feel inadequate, the Holy Spirit is completely sufficient! As believers, we do not need to have perfect skills — we just need to be ready and willing. All we have to do is step out in faith; the power and courage of the Holy Spirit will help us with the rest.
Reflection
What task or situation makes you feel inadequate, and what courage can you ask of God today to step out in faith in that situation?
