- John 8:36 - If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
- Luke 7:6-10 - Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that were followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not, in Israel. And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that he had been sick.
When Jesus was born, the Israelites were living under heavy oppression. Therefore, they were waiting for the promised Messiah, thinking that He would come and set them free politically. But Jesus did not raise a rebellion against the Romans. On the contrary, He taught them to respect authority and love their enemies. He brought blessings not only to the Jews but also to other nations—even to the despised Samaritans. People expected Him to win through force, but Jesus surrendered Himself to be crucified. For this reason, many did not accept Him as the expected Savior. They did not understand that Christ's main goal was not political freedom, but the freedom of hearts. He came to set us free from the bondage of sin, but He did not always promise to change our circumstances immediately. Jesus came for you—He died to save you from sin. Have you accepted His free gift of salvation? His presence can change your life, and His truth can shatter false beliefs. Walking with the Lord means walking in true freedom. We can always rely on His power and choose the right path.
