- 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 - Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
- John 21:15-17 - So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
- John 20:27 - Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
- John 14:16-17 - And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
- 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 - And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
- 2 Corinthians 1:4 - Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
2 Corinthians 1:3–4
No mistake can diminish God's love – He meets our every failure with comfort and grace.
Consider how God's compassionate care was evident in Jesus' life. The Gospels repeatedly show that the Lord acted with compassion when He saw people's pain and need.
Jesus not only healed the sick, but also gave something greater – new life through the forgiveness of sins. He even left the door of repentance open for His enemies.
The Lord also showed mercy to those who suffered due to their own mistakes. For example, Peter's denial of Jesus was met with forgiveness and restoration (John 21:15–17), and Thomas's doubts were answered by Jesus Himself (John 20:27).
Even today, God's mercy is real and personal. He knows when we are in pain and comforts us through the Holy Spirit who dwells within us (John 14:16–17). Even when difficulties remain, He gives us strength to endure them (2 Corinthians 12:7–9). Our mistakes never diminish His love for us.
There is no situation beyond God's reach. His comfort is with us in sickness, financial distress, or family crisis – in every circumstance. And after we experience His comfort, we are called to comfort others (2 Corinthians 1:4). People are in great need of God's mercy, and through it, we can share the Gospel of Christ.
