- Ephesians 6:5-8 - Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
- Colossians 3:23 - And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Christians sometimes make the mistake of separating their work life from their spiritual life. But this is not the right approach. The Holy Spirit should be involved in everything we do, and wherever we are, we must accept Him as our Guide, Comforter, and Helper. The Apostle Paul clearly teaches that we should do our work "as unto the Lord" (Colossians 3:23). Others may be able to do the work better because they have more experience or skills, but believers should be known as honest, wise, reliable, and high-quality workers. We can trust the Holy Spirit to help us live this way. Serving the Lord in the workplace means that our workplace can also become a place of service. If we do our work for the Lord, then our work carries more meaning than just a means of livelihood. Work shapes our character, develops our sense of responsibility, and helps us acquire new skills. Furthermore, we have the opportunity to build relationships with our colleagues, share our testimony, and glorify our Heavenly Father. Work gives us the opportunity to show God's love to others, and the reward for this is greater than just a salary. Whether we are in a school, office, construction site, warehouse, shop, or anywhere else, God can use us wherever we are.
