- Romans 12:1 - I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

The Lord gave you a conscience to protect you. It is important to adhere to some steps to develop and trust this spiritual 'warning system': • *Apply God's Word*. As you apply the 'perfect law of liberty' (James 1:25) in your life, your conscience will grow stronger, because you will better understand God's heart. • *Make your decisions with prayer*. Don't just make decisions because they sound good. Bring every matter to God in prayer. • *Decide to obey God*. When you want to live as God desires, you will constantly ask, 'What does God want from me?' This will help you understand and follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit. • *Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's conviction*. As believers, we are no longer condemned. Therefore, we must know the difference between conviction (a call to repentance) and condemnation. The Holy Spirit clearly shows what needs to change in our lives; He does not create a vague sense of guilt. • *Surrender yourself to God's will*. Decide every day to present yourself to God as a 'living sacrifice.' At this time, your conscience will draw you even closer to the Lord. As your mind is renewed, you will understand that God's will is 'good, acceptable, and perfect' (Romans 12:1–2).
