- Psalm 37:4-7 - Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
- Matthew 6:33 - But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
When we make God the highest priority in our lives, He changes our desires to align with His perfect will. God wants to be the center of every believer's life and the object of our greatest love. If we say we love the Lord, our relationship with Him must be above everything else. Yet, we often misunderstand Psalm 37:4, thinking it means we will get everything we want. In reality, this verse demonstrates God's principle of refining our desires and calls us to dedicate ourselves to Him. To delight in the Lord means to find joy in knowing Him better and submitting to His will. This leads the Holy Spirit to align the desires of our hearts with God's desires, preparing us to experience His blessings. When we commit our way to God, we allow our thoughts, goals, and lifestyle to be shaped by His will. We give Him the right to determine if our desires align with His plan. If we find rest in the Lord and patiently wait for Him, we will trust Him to work, even in desires that seem impossible. If we make God our first love (Matthew 6:33), our hearts will be directed toward manifesting His glory through obedience. As we align with the Father's will, He will fulfill the desires of our hearts in His timing. This is the picture of true fulfillment — where nothing else is needed.
