- Psalms 63:1–8 - O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
- Psalms 5:3 - My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
Start every morning with God's Word — this simple habit will bring more joy to your life. You've likely heard the expression "breakfast is the most important meal of the day." The same principle applies to our souls and minds. What we "feed" ourselves in the morning affects our entire day. Spending time in God’s Word, praying, and meditating — these are spiritual food for our relationship with our Father. David began his day with God. In Psalm 63, he says he seeks God "early" (which also means seeking earnestly). He woke up thirsting for time with his Creator and understood that his soul was satisfied only in the Lord. Imagine living a day like that: a day full of joy and gratitude. This is possible if we start our day with God. Is it hard for you to set aside time for God in the morning? Habits are formed through small steps. Start today, just set aside 5 minutes.
