- 1 Kings 17:8–16 - And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand. And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that I may eat it, and die. And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. And the barrel of meal used not up, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.
- Exodus 16:4 - Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
Do you realize the presence of God in your daily life? If someone asked you, “Are you aware of God?”, you would probably say, “Of course! I go to church and I read the Bible.” Now, let’s take it a step further: do you realize God’s presence in your daily life? This second question becomes more personal, doesn’t it? Maybe you are thinking: “I’m not sure… do I really feel God every day, every moment?” We would like that, but it is not always easy. It requires asking honest questions and making changes in our lives. In difficult times, we often offer stronger and longer prayers: “Help me!” or “I believe I can do this.” But pay attention: often the focus is not on God, but on ourselves. We try to solve the problem and sometimes we miss how God is already at work. Sometimes God shows Himself in a way that is impossible to ignore — like manna falling from heaven in the wilderness. But often, He reveals Himself in the small moments of daily life — step by step, quietly, just like the flour and oil not running out in the widow’s house. From today on, be attentive: look for evidence of God at work in your life.
