- Luke 5:4-6 - Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.
- Psalm 119:60 - I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.
- Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Will you obey even when God’s instructions don't seem entirely clear? The event in today's passage takes place at the Sea of Galilee. The best time for fishing had passed, and the fishermen were washing their nets on the shore. But at Jesus’ request, Peter cast the net into the water again. All of Peter’s experience told him that fishing at that hour was futile. Yet, he still did what Jesus said. And the reward for his trust was an incredibly large catch—the nets even began to break. We as believers want to be like Peter—overcoming doubts and courageously following God. But sometimes, when God’s will seems illogical or incomprehensible to us, we start to rely on human logic rather than Him. There are times when our experience and knowledge seem to contradict God’s plan. Of course, there is a place for seeking wisdom and counsel. But when the Lord clearly shows His will, we must take action. Because the most important opinion is the Lord’s. He promised that He works everything out for our good, and He never makes a mistake. The next time you are in doubt, think: what is stopping you from trusting God? Then, pray specifically to overcome this obstacle and know that God blesses the steps of those who follow Him.
