- Psalm 121:3 - He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
- Psalm 121:5 - The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
- Psalm 121:7 - The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
- Psalm 121:8 - The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
- Matthew 28:20 - Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Two days ago, we learned that God is our Protector. Today, the verses in Psalm 121 show that He is also our Watchman; He is the One who guards and keeps us at all times and in all places.
“He that keepeth thee will not slumber” (verse 3). God, who cares for us, does not need sleep. He is always awake and attentive to our prayers, even when our feelings sometimes tell us otherwise. If you ever feel forgotten, remember that feelings are changeable, but God is unchangeable.
“The Lord is thy keeper… He shall preserve thy soul” (verses 5, 7). God not only protects us physically and spiritually, but also wants to keep us away from wrong thoughts, harmful words, and improper behaviors. The Holy Spirit warns us to turn away from evil and provides guidance for us to grow in God’s way.
“The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore” (verse 8). God is sovereign. He is always with us — protecting us, guiding us, and teaching us. He is with us and shows us the way even in daily tasks that seem insignificant to us.
God is always with us (Matthew 28:20). We can never step outside the bounds of our Heavenly Father's love and care. He cares for us better than anyone else.
