- Psalms 119:71 - It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
- Psalms 119:72 - The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.
- John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Sometimes in movies, we see a person about to step into the path of a moving car without realizing it. At the last second, someone runs over, knocks them down, and saves them from danger. At first, the person who was saved gets angry, not understanding that they were actually being protected from a greater catastrophe. Some trials in our lives can be similar to this. Sometimes we are so focused on our own plans, goals, and daily worries that we cannot see the path God has prepared for us. In such times, the Lord may intervene in our lives to draw our attention to Himself. Job loss, illness, disappointment, or unexpected difficulties may seem heavy to us. But as children of God, we know that He loves us and works wisely in our lives. These trials are not about God accepting us or about our salvation. We are children of God because we believe in Christ, and we have eternal life. However, as a loving Father, He directs us, teaches us, and draws us closer to His will. If you are going through a difficult time in your life right now, ask yourself: What is God protecting me from? What is He teaching me? In what direction is He leading me? Perhaps the plans that are disrupted today will be part of God's better plan tomorrow.
