- 1 Samuel 13:13 - And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.
- James 4:6 - But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Saul seemed to have everything. He came from a respectable family, was tall, brave, and influential in the eyes of the people. God had chosen him to lead Israel. Even the prophet Samuel had said of him: “There is no one like him among all the people.” However, there was a serious problem in Saul's life: he began to rely more and more on himself rather than on God's guidance. As a result, instead of obeying the Word of God, he prioritized his own decisions. Instead of waiting for Samuel, he rushed to offer a sacrifice and violated God's commandment. Pride separates man from God. When a person relies too heavily on their own judgment, they begin to think they do not need God's wisdom. This is what happened in Saul's life, and it was the beginning of many wrong decisions. For the believer, salvation is eternal and secured by the grace of Christ. But close communion with God, effectiveness in ministry, and experiencing His blessings depend on obedience and humility. Saul did not lose his salvation, but he lost the ministry and kingdom that God had given him. Today, ask yourself: do I trust in God's guidance, or in my own understanding? The Lord loves a humble heart and always welcomes those who return to Him. Those who walk with Him find joy, peace, and spiritual blessing.
Reflection
When I make decisions in my life today, am I truly seeking God's guidance, or am I relying on my own abilities and understanding?
