Have you ever considered that your life brings joy to God? Throughout the Scriptures, we learn how we can use our lives to please God. In fact, we were created for His pleasure.
Since we have received new life in Christ and experience God's grace, our hearts should strive to please Him. After all, He has given us everything in this life, and therefore we should give Him everything we have.
The author of the letter to the Hebrews speaks of two different ways to please God. The first is mentioned in Hebrews 13:15. It says that our first sacrifice to God is praise. In the Bible, this is called "worship."
Worship directs our entire lives to reverence for who God is and what He has done for us. We can worship God not only through the songs we sing but also through our lifestyle.
Hebrews 13:16 points to another way to please God - our love for others. When we love others, we reflect God's love for them. Therefore, how we treat people is very important.
Our actions reflect that God loves us. Because we experience God's love, we should do good to others.
There are two ways to please God: by worshipping Him and by loving others. This reiterates what Jesus said about the greatest commandment in Matthew 22:36-40. He concludes by saying that we must love God and our neighbors. We express our love for God by worshipping Him and glorifying Him. Love for others is demonstrated through good deeds and a desire to share with them.
