THE BENEFIT OF FAITH
Bible Readings
- Hebrews 4:2 - For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
God, your Creator, can overcome any weakness you have in hearing Him. What He does not accept is your refusal to listen. This means you must receive everything the Lord tells you with faith.
Today's verse from the letter to the Hebrews speaks of the Israelites' unbelief when they stood at the border of the Promised Land (Numbers 13-14).
Although God miraculously delivered them from Egyptian slavery and sustained them on their journey, they did not believe He would give them their land because of the enemies they saw there. In other words, *how they saw the obstacles was greater than how they saw God.*
But understand this: when the Lord gives you a promise, faith is the only way to receive it. No matter how big the difficulties seem, you must believe that God is in control of everything. Therefore, do not give up on Him. Instead, combine His promise with faith and believe that He is able to fulfill everything He has promised you.
Jesus, no matter my situation, I want to receive everything You tell me with faith. Help me to always trust You. Amen.
_My hope is in Jesus, because He is greater than every difficulty I face._
🤔 Reflection
What does it mean for faith to overcome obstacles in realizing God's promises? How can you exemplify this in your life?
