The Value of God's Word
Bible Readings
- 2 Timothy 4:1-5 - I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
- 2 Peter 1:20-21 - Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
- Hebrews 4:12 - For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
- Romans 10:17 - So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Today, many of us can easily access the Holy Bible. But often, that book remains unopened on a shelf or a table. If we truly understood its value, we would prioritize God's Word above all else.
All Scripture is God-breathed. The source of every thought and every word in the Bible is God Himself.
Just as we cherish letters from loved ones, our attitude towards God's Word should be even deeper. Because the Creator of the universe—God, who holds eternity in His hands—has written down the truths we need to live our lives fully and joyfully. Moreover, God reveals Himself to us through His Word, and this Word is powerful enough to transform our lives.
Our love for the Bible stems from its primary purpose. Romans 10:17 says that faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Therefore, the Holy Scriptures are the essential key to understanding saving faith.
