- Psalms 139:7-12 - Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
- Revelation 1:8 - I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
- John 8:58 - Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
- John 8:59 - Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple.
- James 1:17 - Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
God is infinite, eternal, and unchanging—you can trust Him.
God is infinite. It is difficult for our limited human minds to fully grasp this, but it is very important to reflect on His greatness. His love is immeasurable. He is limitless in righteousness, mercy, and justice. Time and space cannot limit Him.
There is no place where we can be outside of His presence. As believers, we are eternally connected to God because He is eternal. He calls Himself the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end. He existed when time and space began. He will exist when they end. He is "who is and who was and who is to come" (Revelation 1:8).
When Jesus said, "Before Abraham was, I am" (John 8:58), this was a very powerful declaration for the Jews. They understood that Jesus was identifying Himself with the God who said, "I AM"—meaning He was declaring His eternity. That is why they considered it blasphemy and wanted to kill Him (John 8:59).
God is not only infinite and eternal—He is also unchanging (James 1:17). Much of our faith is based on this very fact. We can trust His promises because they do not change. We can trust His love because it never runs out.
