- Romans 12:1 - I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
- James 4:7 - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
- 1 John 3:16 - Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
Life is full of choices. Wisdom is choosing God's way.
The Apostle Paul calls believers not to live by the ways of the world, but according to the will of God. To do this, we must:
1. Dedicate ourselves to God Our entire being—our mind, will, body, character, and emotions—must be surrendered to God. This requires a decision and daily submission.
When we surrender to God, we position ourselves to live according to His will.
2. Become a living sacrifice Jesus Christ came from heaven to reconcile us to God and gave His life. We are also called to follow His example.
The phrase "living sacrifice" signifies daily, constant submission. It is not a one-time event—it is a choice that is renewed every day.
Life is full of choices, and often the choice is between God's way and our own way. As we grow spiritually, a believer surrenders their desires more to God and accepts His will. We will not live a perfect life, but our goal is to obey the Lord. And as we do this, we will see that living to please God brings greater blessings than living according to our own desires.
