- 1 Peter 1:6-9 - Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
- Hebrews 4:16 - Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
True faith is based on Holy Scripture and accepts its eternal truths. True faith trusts that God is exactly who He reveals Himself to be and that He will fulfill everything He has promised. However, faith is not meant to remain hidden—it must be lived in a way that others can see. How can we share our faith with the people around us? Words are certainly important. We can explain what we believe and why. But often, our actions speak louder than our words. A Christ-like lifestyle can be more effective in drawing people to Jesus than words alone. The stability shown during trials demonstrates the authenticity of our faith. When difficulties come, our reactions reveal whether we truly trust in God. As we continue faithfully through suffering, we demonstrate through our lives a truth whose value is greater than gold or silver. Prayer is also a powerful way to influence others. When we remember a person in prayer before God, we are performing a service of eternal value. At the same time, we learn for ourselves that God is faithful, even when circumstances seem hopeless.
