- Lamentations 3:22-23 - It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
- Psalms 103:19 - The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
- Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
When everything seems uncertain, Scripture anchors us to unchanging truth.
The Lord reveals some truths to us clearly, while others He keeps hidden in His wisdom. Therefore, we don't know the reason for every calamity or suffering. However, Scripture reveals truths to us that allow us to trust God even in the most severe trials.
• God is sovereign. Nothing that happens in heaven or on earth escapes His notice. He reigns over all. Even if we don't always understand His ways, we can trust His character.
• God loves people and desires their salvation. God sending His Son for the salvation of the world clearly demonstrates His love for all people. His love remains unchanged, even when we don't feel it.
• God can bring good even within difficulties. We may not fully understand what God is doing in every situation. But Scripture teaches that God can work all things for good for those who love Him. This doesn't mean every event is good in itself, but that God can use it for His good purposes. Difficulties often turn people to God and mature believers in deeper faith and love.
God, who loves us with perfect love, is with us in every situation and carries out His purposes. Knowing this gives us hope, even in the hardest days. He is always faithful, and His promises are trustworthy.
