- 1 Samuel 17:47 - And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hands.
- Nehemiah 4:20 - In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.
We all face giants, but we never have to face them alone — the Lord is with us and fights alongside us. The Philistine army was ready for battle. When young David arrived at the front lines to bring food to his older brothers, he heard Goliath mocking Israel from across the valley. Experienced warriors were retreating in fear, but David was indignant. After all, who was this giant to challenge the armies of the living God? What set David apart was not a show of bravery or military skill; the main difference was his perspective. He had spent years shepherding sheep in the fields, protecting them from wild animals. In those quiet places, he had learned who God is. That is why, when he faced Goliath with a sling and five smooth stones, he was not relying on his own strength. He openly declared to the giant that the battle belonged not to David, but to the Lord. We, too, have our own "giants": severe diagnoses, strained relationships, and fears that won't leave us alone. Like David, we do not win by gathering more resources or trying to fortify ourselves; rather, we move forward by remembering to whom we belong and whose battle it really is. A victorious life does not mean a life without difficulties. It is living with the constant knowledge that God goes before us and stands beside us. The same Lord who was with David in the Valley of Elah is with us today. This truth changes everything about how we move forward. No matter what challenge we face, we are not alone. The Lord is with us!

What 'giant' are you currently facing in your life, and how does remembering that this battle belongs to the Lord change your perspective on the situation?
