- Matthew 26:13 - Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.
- Jeremiah 17:10 - I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
From time to time, every believer faces unfair criticism and accusation. It is especially difficult when we do something from the heart for the Lord, and others misunderstand it. In today's verses, a woman takes very expensive perfume and pours it on Jesus' head. It was an act of love and worship. But on the surface, there was no "result"—no one was saved, there was no measurable success. Moreover, the woman was criticized. Her action was considered wasteful, illogical, and irresponsible. But Jesus did not think so. The Lord highly valued this woman's action and said that what she had done would be remembered. Even though people did not understand it, Jesus saw her heart. We sometimes think, "Does God see what I am doing?" especially when our service is misunderstood or criticized by others. But God sees the depths of the heart. Even if people do not understand, what matters most is His approval.
Reflection
When your service is misunderstood by others, what can you do to shift your focus from human opinion to God's perspective?
