The evening that Jesus calmed the fierce storm on the Sea of Galilee, the disciples were terrified. It is one thing to watch a storm from the shore—it may look magnificent, but the danger is far away. It is quite another to be in the boat when the waves are crashing in and the rain is hitting your face. In those moments, fear becomes very real. We all face various "storms": physical trials, relationship problems, financial difficulties, or overwhelming situations that we struggle to handle. When troubles come, we might cry out, "God, where are You?" But He is always where He is supposed to be. The problem is not His absence; it is just that fear can prevent us from seeing Him clearly. Remember, this is Jesus, whose voice is obeyed by nature itself. He has authority over every kind of storm we face. Our Savior knows how weak we are and does not stand back and judge us for being afraid. He is with us in the midst of the chaos and gives us peace in our hearts, even while the situation remains unchanged. Jesus calmed the storm instantly with three words. Sometimes, He calms our storms with the same speed. Other times, He calms us in the middle of the storm, giving us His peace while the waves are still raging. In either case, He is faithful. When we trust in Him and turn to Him, we realize that His presence is always enough.
