- Psalms 1:1-3 - Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
- Psalms 1:2 - But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
- Romans 8:29 - For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
The Holy Scriptures are a life-changing treasure. But how can we prioritize them in our daily lives?
The value we place on something determines how we treat it. For example, you probably wouldn't give much thought to protecting an old shoebox. But if someone put $10,000 inside that cardboard box and gave it to you, you'd likely do everything you could to protect it.
When we realize the value of the Scriptures, we no longer read them just because we feel obligated. Instead, we hunger for the revelation they give us and their life-changing power.
To prioritize God's Word in our lives:
1. Approach it with expectation. Let us eagerly come to the Scriptures, believing that the Lord has something He wants to show us there.
2. Meditate on its meaning. Don't rush. Pause and allow God's truth to deeply penetrate your thoughts (Ps. 1:2).
3. Believe what the Lord says. Trust His word, even when circumstances make it difficult.
4. Apply the Word to your life. Scripture moves from the page into our daily lives precisely through obedience. Sharing what we learn with others strengthens both us and those around us.
The Bible is a living truth that can guard and guide us, touch our hearts and inspire us. As we treat God's Word as the treasure it truly is, we will increasingly conform to the image of Jesus (Rom. 8:29).
