We may not fully comprehend God's sovereignty, but we can always trust in His goodness. Throughout the Holy Scriptures, we see abundant evidence of God's authority over both humanity and nature. However, many of us face a difficult question: if God is in sovereign control of everything, how can evil exist? Scripture does not provide an answer to every question, but it gives us a truth upon which we can stand firm. In the beginning, God created a perfect world and declared that everything He made was “very good.” Evil was not part of what He created. But God created man capable of loving Him, and love requires a choice. When Adam and Eve chose disobedience, sin entered the world and corrupted the human race. God did not create evil. On the contrary, God hates evil, but He allows its existence in this fallen world for a certain time. Furthermore, even in the midst of this darkness, God is working to redeem and restore what sin has broken. How He accomplishes this remains one of the greatest questions of our faith. This serves as a reminder that His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. When some aspects of God's sovereignty seem incomprehensible, let us begin with the truths we know: God is good. God is in control of everything. God calls us to trust Him—especially in matters we do not yet understand.
