- Psalm 55:6 - And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.
- Matthew 6:34 - Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
- Psalm 55:22 - Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
- 1 Peter 5:7 - Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
When the burdens of life become heavy, instead of retreating, God calls us to surrender them to Him. In today's verses, David experiences the weight of both external challenges and internal distress. There are many types of burdens in life, and sometimes they seem very heavy. Each of us, like David, has wanted to say, «Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then would I fly away, and be at rest» (Psalm 55:6). Some burdens we carry are not those God intended for us. For example, we may continue to carry feelings of guilt for sins that have already been confessed and forgiven. Or we may be overly anxious about the future, even though the Lord calls us not to worry about tomorrow (Matthew 6:34). Other burdens are a natural part of living faithfully in this sinful world. We have real responsibilities, such as caring for our families, fulfilling work duties, and maintaining relationships. Due to the sinfulness of people, we experience difficulties in relationships. God does not create these sins, but we encounter them because we live in such a world. When these difficulties persist, we can feel tired and crushed. However, nothing happens in our lives without God knowing. He knows everything and is with us in every situation. God never wants His children to carry their burdens alone. Therefore, He says: «Cast thy burden upon the Lord» (Psalm 55:22) and promises to strengthen us. Casting your cares upon God means surrendering them completely into His hands (1 Peter 5:7). While problems may not disappear immediately, the Lord will strengthen you with His peace and will give you the strength to endure, helping you to pass through any circumstances as you trust in His care.
