Facing Fear
Bible Readings
- Psalms 91:1-10 - He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
- Psalms 27:1 - The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Fear sometimes enters our lives unnoticed. It can approach so silently and subtly that we don't even realize how it impacts our decisions, health, and state of mind.
Initially, fear may seem small and insignificant. But over time, it begins to interfere with various areas of our lives. Physically, it creates tension, distancing us from peace and the joy of life. Anxiety clouds our thoughts, preventing us from thinking clearly and seeing new opportunities.
The inner paralysis created by unchecked fear is even more dangerous for our spiritual life. If we do not surrender fear to God, it begins to rule in our hearts, coloring our relationships with a general sense of unease. This leads to indecision and the fear of making the wrong choice. As a result, we feel trapped and try to avoid anything that might disturb us. Thus, our spiritual growth stagnates, and obstacles arise in our ministry and family life.
We all experience fear from time to time—it's part of being human. But if anxiety paralyzes us, we cannot fully trust God and wholeheartedly follow Him (Psalms 27:1).
Today, ask the Lord to show you the anxieties that are holding you back and to give you the strength to surrender them into His hands. May His presence be stronger than fear.
